Fun Bits Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Welcome to Fun Bits ("we," "our," or "us"), operated by Manta Code Sp. z o.o. We understand the importance of protecting your privacy and the privacy of your family. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use our Fun Bits mobile application and website (together, the "Service").

2. Using Fun Bits Without an Account

You are not required to create an account to use Fun Bits. Without an account, all your data (quotes, children, photos) is stored exclusively on your device. Nothing is transmitted to our servers or shared with anyone. The only data collected in this mode is anonymized crash reports and app performance data (see Section 3.6). If you later choose to create an account, your local data can be synced to the cloud at your discretion.

3. Information We Collect

The following sections describe data collected when you choose to create an account and use cloud features.

3.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address — provided directly or via your authentication provider
• Display name — provided by you or your authentication provider
• Authentication identifiers — tokens from Google, Apple, or Facebook used solely to verify your identity

We do not receive or store your passwords for third-party sign-in providers.

3.2 Content You Create

The core purpose of Fun Bits is to let you record and share memorable quotes from your children. Content you create includes:

• Text content of quotes and any context or notes you add
• Names and birth dates of children you add to the app
• Photos you upload (child avatars, quote photos)
• Quotebook names and descriptions

This content is stored in our cloud infrastructure (see Section 4) and may be shared with other users you invite to your quotebooks (see Section 3).

3.3 Invite and Sharing Data

When you invite someone to a quotebook, we collect and process:

• The email address of the person you invite
• Invite tokens and their acceptance status

3.4 Push Notification Data

If you grant notification permissions, we store:

• Your device push token (provided by Apple or Google via Expo)
• Your notification preferences (which notification types you have enabled)

Push tokens are deleted from our servers when you log out or delete your account.

3.5 Voice Input

Fun Bits offers optional speech-to-text for adding quotes. Speech recognition is processed on-device or by the operating system's speech services (Apple Speech or Google Speech). We do not transmit audio recordings to our servers.

3.6 Automatically Collected Information

We automatically collect:

• Crash reports and error data (via Sentry) — including device model, OS version, app version, and error stack traces
• Website analytics (via Google Analytics) — page views, referral sources, and general usage patterns
• Device information — operating system, device model, app version, language settings

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
• Sync your data across devices when you are logged in
• Enable sharing of quotebooks between family members and friends you invite
• Send push notifications you have opted into (new quotes, invitations, likes)
• Send invitation emails on your behalf when you invite someone to a quotebook
• Diagnose technical problems and improve app stability
• Respond to your support requests

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in the European Union (EU, eu-central-1 region) using Supabase, a cloud database and storage platform. We implement the following security measures:

• All data is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS)
• Database-level Row Level Security (RLS) ensures users can only access data they are authorized to see
• Photos are stored in a dedicated, access-controlled storage bucket
• Authentication is handled via industry-standard protocols (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect)
• Passwords (for email/password accounts) are hashed and never stored in plaintext

6. Data Sharing

6.1 With Other Users

When you share a quotebook, other members of that quotebook can see:

• Quotes and photos in the shared quotebook
• Children's names associated with those quotes
• Your display name as the quote author or quotebook creator
• Other members' names (unless hidden by the quotebook admin)

You control who has access by managing invitations and member roles (admin, editor, viewer).

6.2 With Third-Party Service Providers

We use the following third-party services to operate the Service:

• Supabase (EU) — database, authentication, file storage, and serverless functions
• Sentry — error monitoring and crash reporting
• Brevo — sending invitation emails (processes recipient email addresses)
• Expo — push notification delivery (processes device push tokens)
• Google Analytics — website analytics (anonymized)
• Apple, Google, Facebook — authentication providers (we receive only email and name)
• Apple App Store, Google Play Store — app distribution

These services process data in accordance with their own privacy policies. We do not sell your personal data to any third party.

6.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

7. User-Generated Content

Fun Bits allows you to create and share text content (quotes, notes, quotebook descriptions) and upload photos. You are solely responsible for the content you create and share through the Service. By using the Service, you agree that:

• You will not upload or share content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable
• You will not upload content that infringes on the intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or other rights of any third party
• You have obtained appropriate consent from any individuals depicted in photos you upload, including consent from parents or guardians for photos of minors
• You are responsible for ensuring that content shared within quotebooks is appropriate for all members of that quotebook

We do not actively monitor or review user-generated content. However, we reserve the right to remove content that violates this policy or applicable law, and to suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate these terms. We are not liable for any user-generated content created, uploaded, or shared by users of the Service.

8. Children's Privacy

Fun Bits is designed for parents and guardians to record memorable moments from their children. Important points:

• The Service is intended for use by adults (parents, guardians, family members). Children should not use the app directly.
• We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 16
• Information about children (names, birth dates, quotes, photos) is entered by their parents or guardians who have full control over this data
• Parents and guardians can delete any data related to their children at any time
• If you believe a child has provided personal information to us directly, please contact us immediately

9. Your Rights (GDPR)

As we are based in the European Union (Poland), you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

• Right of access — you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Right to rectification — you can update your profile and content directly in the app
• Right to erasure — you can delete your account and all associated data through the app's Settings screen. This permanently removes your account, quotes, children data, photos, push tokens, and notification preferences. Quotes you added to shared quotebooks will be anonymized (your name removed) rather than deleted, to preserve the quotebook's integrity for other members.
• Right to data portability — you can request your data in a machine-readable format by contacting us
• Right to object — you can opt out of push notifications in the app's settings and manage notification preferences per category
• Right to withdraw consent — you can revoke third-party sign-in access at any time through your Google, Apple, or Facebook account settings

10. Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the Settings screen in the app. When you delete your account:

• Your user profile, push tokens, and notification preferences are permanently deleted
• Quotebooks where you are the sole admin are transferred or deleted
• Quotes you added to shared quotebooks are anonymized (your name is removed but the quote text is preserved for other members)
• Your photos are deleted from cloud storage
• This action is irreversible

11. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. After account deletion, all personal data is removed as described in Section 10. Anonymized quotes in shared quotebooks are retained indefinitely as they no longer contain personal data. Error logs and crash reports in Sentry are retained for 90 days.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will:

• Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy
• Notify you through the App or by email where required
• Obtain consent where required by law

13. Cookie Policy

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies:

• Essential Cookies: Necessary for the website to function properly, including page navigation and authentication flows.
• Analytics Cookies: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with our website. The information collected is anonymized and includes visitor counts, referral sources, and pages visited.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect website functionality.
